House rules

Cancellation

100% of the total is due at the time of booking. This is non-refundable after 24 hours. (Refunds within that period are subject to a non-refundable 4% credit card transaction fee.)

Rental agreement

• A damage deposit equal to 10% of the reservation value is required, payable by wire.
• A weekly cleaning is required for the home: $300 per service, payable directly to the housekeeper. Additional cleanings may be arranged with the house manager as needed.

14 nights minimum stay. Available July 1 – November 30, 2026.

The dock

The floating dock accommodates boats up to 40 ft. Water depth is approximately 30 inches at low tide. Inquire with the host in advance if you plan to arrive by boat.

The cannon

From Memorial Day through mid-October, the adjacent Shelter Island Yacht Club continues its long-standing tradition of firing a ceremonial cannon salute at 8:00 AM and again at sunset. It is part of the experience of staying here.

Ferry access

Shelter Island is accessible only by car ferry. The North Ferry runs from Greenport, NY — its Shelter Island Heights dock is a three-minute drive from The Boat House. The South Ferry runs from North Haven, near Sag Harbor.
